- Carl W. Vogt
Carl W. Vogt, 85, of West Bend, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at the Samaritan Health Center.
He was born April 4,1916, in the town of West Bend, to the late Nicholas and Helena (Jansen) Vogt.
After his marriage to Helen O. Schneider on May 9, 1942, at St. Michael's Catholic Church: St. Michaels, the couple farmed in the West Bend area for over 40 years.
Carl was a very social man who enjoyed being around people.
Survivors include his wife; six children, Charles (Theresa), Dan (Karen), JoAnne (Thomas) Pella, Steven (Cheryl), James (Brenda and John (Vickie); 17 grandchildren, Jesse, Megan, Kelly, Laura, Noele, Dani, Brian, Matthew, Katalin, Jared, Jacob, Lucas, Adam, Rachel, Sarah, Kristine and Andrew; four sisters, Therese Oelhafen, Eleanor Ihlenfeld, Cyrilla (William) Thull and Catherine (Jack) Weninger; a brother, Denis (Marian) Vogt; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were a brother, Clarence; a sister, Helen and her husband, Harvey Oelhafen; and two brothers-in-law, John Oelhafen and Edwin Ihlenfeld.
He was a member of the Allenton Volunteer Fire Department (honorary member), Allenton Area Advancement Association, Slinger-Allenton Rotary, St. Matthias Men's Society, Catholic Foresters, Knights of Columbus, Washington County Civil Service Commission, town of West Bend treasurer, town of Addison assessor for four years, town of Addison clerk for 17 years, West Bend Moose Lodge 1393, the Allenton Lions, a trustee for St. Matthias Church: Nabob for 16 years, and was a Pioneer Seed corn salesman.
A special thank you to the Samaritan Health Center nursing staff for their loving care given to Carl.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church: St. Lawrence.
Visitation at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend, will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer vigil at 8 p.m., and also at the church only on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass.
Memorials are appreciated in Carl's name to the charity of the donor's choice.
