  • Notes 
    • A story told by several persons and remembered by others was that Hildegard's
      crib was in one corner of the dining room and that on the day she died, bells
      were heard emanating from that area of the house. It is thought that the
      bells were the angels coming to take her to heaven.
      Cause of death was "Cholera Infantum", most probably Infant Diarrhea. Without
      todays medicines and capabilities to replace body fluids lost, severe
      dehydration and other medical complications would have lead to her death.
