Stratosphir Delayed, Experimental Logo, Twitter

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

First off, I’m sorry I haven’t written a new article in quite some time, but I’d like to bring one important thing to your attention: Stratosphir has been delayed until February 8th, 2010. The reason: Dave says it would be better to release it on Monday, rather than Friday (the 5th) because they would be in the office the day after, whereas if they released it on Friday, they wouldn’t be in the office over the weekend to work out any issues that may occur when Stratosphir is released to the beta community. Yeah, sorry about that huge run-on sentence, but it was necessary to explain the situation. :P

Also, I was just experimenting with a new logo for Atmosphiric… It’s a screenshot of my character in Stratosphir with a few things beside him. I’d love to know what all you readers think about it–drop me a comment.

An experimental logo I just made in Photoshop

I just got some positive feedback from some of the users in the chat, and I’d like to see what some more people think.

And to finish off today’s article, I’d like to inform everyone that Atmosphiric now has a Twitter account. Follow us at @Atmosphiric and know exactly when a new article is posted and receive special announcements immediately.

So that wraps things up. Have a nice rest of your weekend, and look forward to February 8th!

Lately, new screenshots and videos have been pouring in like there’s no tomorrow–which is fine with the community, because everyone loves it. Below are two new screenshots and six new videos. Enjoy!

Dave has recently announced the names of the seven Prebeta testers for Project Stratosphir. Below is the list of testers:

I would like to congratulate them for being chosen and I hope you all don’t get too jealous. :P Well, moving on to a little bit more news: there are two more screenshots for me to show all you readers, as well as a YouTube video.

To start off, two new screenshots:

Enjoy this video straight from Dave’s kitchen, talking about the upcoming update to Atmosphir–Project Stratosphir.

As you can see, there are many info stickers scattered around the level, and a spring board off to the right. Judging by the shadows, there is probably some sort of overhang above the character. The character is using a bomb cannon to attack a Muka Boss, and you can see the explosion effects. One of the other things that is easy to miss is the run and jump powerups… One run powerup has the old texture of a hollow triangle, and the other has the new texture of a solid triangle. The same occurs with the jump powerups. Does this mean we will have two different kinds of run and jump powerups in Stratosphir? The one thing that intrigues me is that the camera is so far zoomed out; I have heard MiSt talk about spectator mode, and this may be what this is, unless you can zoom out even more with Stratosphir. Last but not least, there is an enemy spawner in the corner, which also can spawn keys and other objects of the sort–almost like a first step towards triggers.

Mulitplayer Stratosphir Screenshot

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

Yet another daily screenshot has been released today, showing the pause menu, as well as three different players in multiplayer. You can see one is barefoot, and in the bottom-center of the pause menu there appears to be mulitplayer sessions options–and the logo looks like voice chat.

As seen above, there is a dialog box from the info sticker, a cloud of fog effects, a new space skybox, an ambient sun, infinite time, and a ton of rotated rocks just floating there. Doesn’t that look fun?
